Producing the Real Estate Leaders of Tomorrow
Leadership
The Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship is a model organization for scholastic evolution. The Center is in itself quite real but succeeds by being virtual, drawing upon the resources from across the entire university, and from within the real estate community. There are no walls, no boundaries, no impediments to bringing the entire intellect of Mason to bear on this effort.
The Executive Director of the Center is Professor Greg Hero, a business executive with over 25 years of relevant experience. Professor Hero has a wealth of experience in many industries, including real estate. In his past, he has provided executive-level strategic and operational advice, coaching and leadership to many companies and projects. He has joined Mason as the full-time Executive Director with the mandate to lead the overall operations of the Center. To complement Professor Hero, the Center is conducting a nationwide search for a leading real estate educator to guide the academics.
Professor Hero is actively assisted by four groups:
- The Deans' Committee, comprised of the current Deans' from the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering, the School of Public Policy, the School of Management, and the School of Visual and Performing Arts. The Deans' Committee is chaired by the Provost and provides the overall direction for the Center. By involving the heads of the key Schools, the Center receives the active support of the entire educational community.
- The Mason Center Operating Group, comprised of three seasoned professors from the participating schools, provides the necessary interfaces between the Center and the various Mason schools. Current members include: Dr. Mark Houck from the Volgenau School of IT and Engineering, Professor John McClain from the Center for Regional Analysis within the School of Public Policy and Dr. John Crockett from the School of Management. The Mason Center Operating Group is also actively supported by the Mason Foundation, Mason Web Services, and Mason Public Relations Groups.
- The Advisory Group, comprised of leaders of the real estate community, provides the overall strategic direction of the Center.
- The Curriculum Subcommittee of the Center's Advisory Group provides input regarding the evolving curriculum for the Certificates, as well as the degree concentrations and degree programs.
